In conjunction with the Spring equinox, and coinciding with two years of breastfeeding, Fernández made a series of celebratory ceramic cups in the shape of a nipple or breast. The clay objects are formed by pinching, pulling and massaging. They are based on cult objects and drawings found in matrilineal villages circa 6000 BCE in the region of Dalmatia/Adriatic Coast. Imagery painted on to the cups uses symbols and depicts themes from matriarchal societies, such as the Mother, Peace, Birth, Death and Regeneration. Taking the model of the gift-giving economy of matriarchal societies (and principles of reciprocity), the the vessels used for a toast for the equinox were shared amongst the participants and taken home by new caretakers.
